Marathon #120 - December 31, 2012

NEW YEAR'S ONE DAY EVENT - #120 - 12/31/2012
San Francisco California
My journey to Guinness 2012 ended with 120 marathons/ultras at the New Year's One Day Event in San Francisco.  Without the support of my amazingly awesome husband my journey would not have been possible.  It's funny because I did not set out to break my own record, it just sort of happen.  My goal for 2012 was to get in Badwater Ultramarathon and I didn't get in.
The race was held at Cissy Field park and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day in San Francisco.
It's always fun to see my two favorite marathoners, Chris and Cathy.
In 2010 I broke an eight year record for "Most Marathons Run in a Calendar Year" by a woman.  I got a lot of flak for being a power walker and it caused me to lose confidence in myself and the courage to hold such a big title.  When I received the news that I didn't get in Badwater, I set out to power walk longer distance and multiple races.  By May I realized that I could break my own record along with doing longer distances which included three 100 milers.  Each 100 miler is counted as one marathon and I wanted to prove that a power walker could walk longer distance and finish in some pretty good finishing time.  I ended the year breaking my own record with 120 marathons/ultras and I got my confidence back!!!
