This was my 4th year doing Nanny Goat and my best year.  I have no excuse to why I only completed 50 miles.  I was having my best race with no blisters, no stomach issues and the weather was perfect.  Nanny Goat is a fun race with good food, fun ultra runners, the best volunteers and a awesome race director! I finished 50 miles in 12:50:12...

Pasadena Marathon 5-20-2012

Pasadena Marathon - May 20, 2012
Pasadena California
This was my 4th year doing the Pasadena Marathon and my best.  I had so much fun and was treated like a celebrity.  Pasadena has one of the most beautiful course in Southern California.  The weather is always unpredictable and this year 90 degrees.  No heat exhaustion for me and I finished 6:31:20.  Together again with Julie Weiss and she is running 52 marathons benefiting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.  http://marathongoddess.com/

VIP...I guess you can say I'm a "Marathon Celebrity"
I'm Fabulous, Fit, over Fifty and having FUN!!!  I went from the couch to marathons and so can you!!!  I spend my money on marathons not meds...
Dr. Moses turned 80 May 1, 2012 and he said "I only run one marathon a month"  This is Dr.Moses 3rd marathon this month!  I want what he's drinking at age 80!
Love my lime green SKECHERS!!!
I got talked about real bad at Pasadena marathon.  I got called:  Best dress, you look hot (it was 90 degrees), you look sexy, love your outfit, love your lime green shoes, wow, you don't look like your running (walking) a marathon, you look cute, you look like you're going to a party, and this one I have never heard before;  You look feminine!  That's my point ladies!!!  You can look fabulous while running a marathon and it makes you feel good about yourself.  I may not be fast and I may be last but I feel  gorgeous crossing the finish line at age 54!!!

Thank you Kirk...
Congrats Marathon Mitch...100 marathons...

Marathon Mitch 100 Marathon!!!
He's awesome and a very nice person!

My Journey to 100 Marathons

Hey everyone I am Mitch, aka Marathon Mitch, my journey begins back in 2001 when I was 25, I signed up for the LA Marathon, it was a new millennium and I wanted to do something challenging. I didn’t know anything about how to run a marathon or how to train for a marathon, I didn’t have many friends back then so I didn’t know who to ask. I just signed up without any proper training. Although I have been active all my life, I always play basketball with my friends when I was in high school so I guess I had some basic background of running. But I never consider myself as a serious runner back then.
So in the morning of my first marathon in downtown LA on Figueroa , I was at the very front of the start because I was clueless and knew nothing about pacing myself, I just wanted to be on TV for a few seconds when the camera was panning across the runners before the start. I was excited and could not wait to start the race!! So after the gun went off, I just ran as fast as I can and just follow all those runners running down Figueroa St, I didn’t know how fast I was going but after a few miles, I got tired already and had to stop and pulled myself over to the sidewalk!! By about Mile 13, I laterally SAT on the curb and wanted to quit cuz I was just too tired to continue, I was watching all the runners run by me, but after about 15 mins or so, I told myself that I am not gonna pay all the money to see myself quit, so I got up and walk the rest of the race. I finished in 7:39.00. I didn’t have anyone to celebrate with at the finish line, I just drove back to my parents place and rest. From then on I have ran the LA Marathon EVERY year as my own tradition. Currently I have completed 99 marathons with a personal best time of 3:47.02. My 100th Marathon will be in Pasadena Marathon on May 20th, 2012.

How I become a Marathon Maniac?
I didn’t know anything about this club call Marathon Maniacs until 2007 after I have completed a back to back marathon in Death Valley, CA and Las Vegas Marathon the following day. My friend Bob and Sable, who are also a Maniac, told me that I should join the club since I run a lot. I have already completed 29 marathons up to that point. So I joined the club and my number is #790. So you can say I was a Marathon Maniac BEFORE I officially became a Marathon Maniac.

After I found out this Maniac Club, I also found out about another club call the 50 States Marathon Club. That even made me want to run more marathons so I could complete a marathon in all 50 States!!! My marathons total had increased over the year, 2001- 2004(1 each year), 2005(4), 2006(9), 2007(12), 2008(14), 2009(13), 2010(17), 2011(20!!!)

I really enjoy being a Marathon Maniac, this club totally opened a whole new world to me, before I had no friends, pretty much a loner, but now I am glad I have found others who also share my CRAZY addiction, I get to meet some AMAZING and INCREDIBLE friends thru running, I get to travel to other states where I normally would never thought I would go, places like Birmingham, AL, Rexbury, ID, Erie, PA, Dayton, OH, Savannah, GA, Nashville, TN, etc... It gives me reason to explore the country, rather it’s by flying, driving or running.

Person who inspired me the most?
Dean Karnazes - he was the one who inspired me to do 2 marathon in 2 days back in 2007 when he did 50 marathons in 50 days in 50 states in 2006. I was lucky enough to run with him during this Day #20 in NV.

My Favorite Quotes?
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go” ---- T.S. Eliot
“Never limit where running can take you” ---- Bart Yasso

Sycamore Canyon 50K

Sycamore Canyon 50K - May 12, 2012
Malibu California
Jessica, Steve and Jenny...my favorite marathon buddies...
Sycamore Canyon 50K in the Santa Monica Mountain is a very brutal yet beautiful course.  This part of the trail is very technical.  I've done this trail many times and I PR (personal record) on this trail.  I finished 7:56:44. My strength on trail marathons is my climbing.  This was a good marathon and as you know every marathon/ultra is different.  The weather was perfect, overcast and cloudy.
a lot of climbing...
beautiful views...

I got last place and 3rd place in my age group...Yay me!!!
