Bear Lake Marathon Utah - Day 2 - #49

Bear Lake Utah day 2, I'm feeling good and the weather started off good too. At mile 13 it started to rain and continued until the last mile. The course was nice with miles of views of Bear Lake. Everyone seem to be having fun. Doubles aren't as hard as it may sound. I finished a few minutes under yesterdays time. 6:11:09

TRUST IN YOURSELF I believe all of us have a built-in compass to help us get to wherever we desire to go. Don't get led astray. Ask your heart for the truth, and it will come up with the answer and the good judgement to make the decisions you'll need to make. Love everyone, and don't question love's reception. Do the best you can. Live each day as it comes. We can't get ahead of ourselves anyway. Remember: just as you have questions now, somewhere inside you, and down the road, there will be better answers and workable solutions. It takes patience and trust to get through life's changes when you're trying to reach goals, solve problems, and make dreams come true. Though at times it may seem more than you can handle whatever comes your way. Trust in yourself.

Bear Lake Marathon Idaho - Day 1 - Marathon #48

Bear Lake Idaho was day 1 of a triple marathon weekend. I did this triple last year. I'm feeling the excitement of doing 3 marathons in 3 days in 3 states. There were lots of 50 staters from the 50 States Club. This triple is an easy way to get 3 states in one weekend. It did not feel like spring or summer, more like winter on a January day. It was very cold, in the low 40's. Burr!!! I finished 6:14:20

Irlan is running her first triple, which will give her 3 more states. To join the 50 states club you must run a marathon in 10 states. Idaho will be state #6 for Irlan. Robert, MM#603 from Canada had no problem with the cold. Robert and I saw each other last year at the Lake Tahoe Triple. It was good to see you Robert!

The drive into Bear Lake was beautiful. I had to stop and take in the view.

Dreams Come True One Step at a Time: When going through life and traveling in the direction of your dreams, the best way to get ahead is the simplest way: Take it one step at a time. Don't look over your shoulder; if you do, you'll feel the weight of all your yesterdays upon you. And don't worry about what lies ahead. By the time you get to the bend in the road or the crest of the hill, you're going to be better and stronger than you ever were before. Just go a step at a time. And you'll find a rich, thankful life you never thought you could afford.

Diablo Trail 50K - #47

This was the first weekend this year that I did not do a double. I took a much needed rest. I'm getting the excitement and fun back thanks to the Liberty Ladies. Diana & Maricar are on a quest to see America 26.2 miles at a time.
They sure know how to put the FUN in marathoning. Thank you Liberty Ladies for helping me get the excitement back. See their video:

This is Carol, 63, from Concord. Carol and I met last year at Pacifica 50K under warming circumstances'. I was freezing at Pacifica and Carol offered me her jacket. Carol has run over 20 trail runs and loves to challenge herself. Nice work Carol!!!

Mt. Diablo has spectacular views on the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding valleys. The course is very hilly, scenic, tough and challenging on single track trails and dirt roads. The course climbs to the summit and the 50K climbs the summit twice. On my second loop I was hot & tired. I fell for the first time this year and I got heat exhaustion. The fall nor did heat exhaustion break my spirit. I did manage to finish with a PW (personal worst) in a 50K 9:58:11

PERSEVERE AND CARRY ON:
It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop. Constant, slow movement teaches us to keep working like a small creek that stays clear, that doesn't stagnate, but finds a way through numerous details, deliberately.
People who fulfill their dreams are not merely lucky; neither are they necessarily the most talented. Rather, they understand the value of perseverance and determination. They believe that setbacks are simply a means to grow, and that small failures only pave the way for new insights. They know where they are going even when others do not and believe in their own dreams when others doubt. Their vision comes from within - and it is always burning in their hearts.

Tony's Graduation

Tony is my husband's great-nephew. Tony graduated from Everett Alvarez High School in Salinas California. He is on his way to Fresno State University! Tony, I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smile, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known. Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. To accomplish great things, we must not only plan, but also believe. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. Congratulations Tony!!!!

Family...

Dinner was at Roy's Restaurant. Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine is located in Pebble Beach on the magnificent Seventeen Mile Drive.

Beautiful views!

Jeanina baked these fabulous cakes. The traveling suitcase is red velvet cake and she baked it from scratch! Maybe Jeanina will make me one when I break the world record???

Memorial Day Marathon at Sunset Beach - #46

As we pray for America, we also pray for the soldiers, airmen and sailors who help keep our nation free. The brave men and women in our military sacrifice each and every day to let Americans live a life where they are free to worship God and to be safe from our enemies. We should never forget the sacrifices that they have made, not just today, but in years past. And not just those serving in the military. The families of our men and women in uniform give to our country as they make hard decisions that allow their loved ones to serve.

When your dreams become your life and your life becomes your dreams you begin to see God all over them.
