Diablo Trail 50K - #47

This was the first weekend this year that I did not do a double. I took a much needed rest. I'm getting the excitement and fun back thanks to the Liberty Ladies. Diana & Maricar are on a quest to see America 26.2 miles at a time.
They sure know how to put the FUN in marathoning. Thank you Liberty Ladies for helping me get the excitement back. See their video:

This is Carol, 63, from Concord. Carol and I met last year at Pacifica 50K under warming circumstances'. I was freezing at Pacifica and Carol offered me her jacket. Carol has run over 20 trail runs and loves to challenge herself. Nice work Carol!!!

Mt. Diablo has spectacular views on the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding valleys. The course is very hilly, scenic, tough and challenging on single track trails and dirt roads. The course climbs to the summit and the 50K climbs the summit twice. On my second loop I was hot & tired. I fell for the first time this year and I got heat exhaustion. The fall nor did heat exhaustion break my spirit. I did manage to finish with a PW (personal worst) in a 50K 9:58:11

PERSEVERE AND CARRY ON:
It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop. Constant, slow movement teaches us to keep working like a small creek that stays clear, that doesn't stagnate, but finds a way through numerous details, deliberately.
People who fulfill their dreams are not merely lucky; neither are they necessarily the most talented. Rather, they understand the value of perseverance and determination. They believe that setbacks are simply a means to grow, and that small failures only pave the way for new insights. They know where they are going even when others do not and believe in their own dreams when others doubt. Their vision comes from within - and it is always burning in their hearts.
