Wine Country Marathon - Marathon #86

Wine Country Marathon was held in Healdsburg California in the beautiful Sonoma County wine country. We started in historical downtown Healdsburg and ran through residential area of old homes and quaint streets. We past many vineyards and dozens of wineries. The course had rolling roads with breathtaking views of Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley. I finished 5:57:24

Roxana is a 50 stater and Marathon Maniac. Roxana is on her second round of the states. Ted and I saw each other last month at the Lake Tahoe Triple. Ted did the 72 miler.

It was a beautiful day in Sonoma County. It was over 90 degrees and I was feeling really good. No heat problems or stomach issues...Thank you Jesus!

This is Mary and her first marathon! Yippee!!! You can do this Mary!

It's Halloween in Healdsburg!

THE PATH TO A DREAM

The path to a dream is paved with sacrifices and lined with determination. and though it has many stumbling blocks along the way and may go in more than one direction, it is marked with faith. It is traveled by belief and courage, persistence and hard work. It is conquered with a willingness to face challenges and take chances, to fail and try again and again. Along the way, you may have to confront doubts, setbacks, and unfairness. But when the path comes to an end, you will find that there is no greater joy than making your dream come true.

Golden Hills Trail Marathon - Marathon#85

Golden Hills Trail Marathon started in Berkeley California at Berkeley's Tilden Park and finished 26.2 miles at Lake Chabot in Castro Valley. The course ran along the East Bay Skyline National Trail, which included fireroads and single track trails that provided gorgeous views of San Francisco, Mt. Diablo and the golden hills of the East Bay. It was a beautiful morning in Berkeley. I finished 7:43:08

Dick Collins Firetrail 50 miler was held in conjunction with the Golden Hills Marathon. Marathon Maniac #111 "McLovin" was running the Firetrail 50 miler. He says he doesn't like running 50 milers but I think he likes the challenge. Nice to see you Robert!

Jenny has been running very well this year. Firetrail 50 miler was Jenny's 50th marathon/ultra. Congrats Jenny!

Loren from Minnesota is enjoying the views.

The views of San Francisco were spectacular. We also ran through redwood forest and many different types of trees.

ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE
Just three simple steps to create what you want. However, very often the second step, believe, can be the most difficult one. And yet it is the greatest step you will ever take. Believing contains no doubt. Believing does not waiver. Believing is absolute faith. Believing remains steadfast despite what is happening in the outside world. When you master believing, you have mastered your life.

Camarillo Marathon - Marathon #84

The Camarillo Marathon was held in Camarillo California. The weather was a cool 64 degrees and overcast. This was perfect for me after coming from Las Vegas yesterday in 95 degrees! The course was not scenic and there wasn't much to look at. It was nice to see lots of new faces and some Maniac buddies too.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS

Each new day is a blank page in the diary of your life. The pen is in your hand, but the lines will not all be written the way you choose; some will come from the world and the circumstances that surround you. But for the many things that are in your control, there is something special you need to know.

The secret of life is in making your story as beautiful as it can be. Write the diary of your days and fill the pages with words that come from the heart.

As the pages take you through time, you will discover paths that will add to your happiness and your sorrows, but if you can do these things, there will always be hope in your tomorrows...

Follow your dreams. Work hard, Be kind. This is all anyone could ever ask: Do what you can to make the door open on a day that is filled with beauty in some special way.

Remember: Goodness will be rewarded. Smiles will pay you back. Have fun. Find strength. Be truthful. Have faith. Don't focus on the things you lack.

Realize that people are the treasures in life, and happiness is the real wealth. Have a diary that describes how you did your best, and...

The rest will take care of itself.

Desert Dash Trail 50K - DNF (Did Not Finish)

Desert Dash Trail 50K was held in Las Vegas at Red Rock National Park. It was a warm morning and I was feeling great! I was still on a natural high from the Tahoe Triple last weekend. The course was an easy rocky trail. I finished the first loop of 11.5 miles with a minor fall. I'm still feeling good and happy. As I left the start/finish to start my 5k loop, halfway into the loop, it was like something just sucked up all of my energy. Heat exhaustion set in with no warning! I could not walk. I would take 2 to 3 steps and would have to sit down. I waited a few minutes and started to walk again. Same thing I had to sit down. Back in June I did Running with the Devil in 109 degree heat and I got heat exhaustion at mile 23 but I didn't feel like this and was able to finish the race. A runner came by and asks if I was okay and I said please let the staff know that I'm not doing well and I need to drop. At that moment I made the call. Back in 2008 I had my first DNF. I was doing a 50 miler and at mile 30 I got heat exhaustion, altitude sickness and I continued until mile 44. By pushing my body 14 miles with heat sickness cause me to lose that ultra and the next day marathon. I lost 12 pounds and was in the bed for 2 days. I'm very proud of myself. This time I knew when to say "when". I wasn't going to blog about it but Kim said "you should blog about this experience because you are human."

This young lady did awesome and she fell too! 95 degree heat and still smiling.

Micheal is still going strong in the heat. Congrats!

Wow! I have had to make some serious decisions lately. Life is full of decisions.

YOU MUST LET IT GO

You cannot erase the past; you must let it go.
You cannot change yesterday;
You must accept the lessons learned.
You cannot stop time
or stand still in a world
racing around in circles;
You must dance with the wind
and sing with the songs
that are playing.
Let whatever mistakes you have made remain in the shadows
of times gone by,
and let love be the answer to the mysteries in life.
Keep looking...for the peacefulness you are searching for
Keep believing...in the contentment you talk so endlessly about
Keep trying...to be all that you are.
Remember...the magic in life ends whenever you decide you have everything.
